How much does a tonne weigh?

It’s common practice to describe a heavy object in tonnage.

But no one has any idea how much a tonne is.  We can lift a kilogram block of cheese so we have an idea what a kilogram weighs.  As we can’t lift a tonne of anything by ourselves it becomes such an abstract concept.  So is 100 tonnes a lot?

It certainly is!

100 metric tonnes is 100,000 kilograms. 100 tonnes is about the weight of 2 average sized houses. Or the weight of approx 33,000 bricks.

Which is a solid stack of bricks 10 x 10 by 330 bricks high.

It would take you more than 3 weeks, working 24 hours a day, a brick a minute, to unload that many bricks.

Facts are facts, but converting facts to stories and images help them become a lot more real.

What will you do now to convert the facts of your business into stories in your working day, to help your customers and teams understand the reality of those facts and make them a lot more real?
