The Leadsafe Leaders programme is targeted at people leaders and project managers of those who would attend the 2 day Leadsafe Supervisors programme. It is designed to provide a common language around the safety step-change and helps managers and leaders be better equipped to support and coach their people.

Learning Outcomes

This interactive 1 day programme focuses on the key messages of the 2-day LeadSafe supervisor’s programme and the governance and influencing skills required to lift key safety practices/processes and set the tone for the safety across a broad set of key stakeholders (i.e. local government, Iwi, regional bodies) and drive quality work outcomes that have safety at their core.

Participants will gain skills to be able to:

  •  Describe your role as a proactive safety leader within your area of business
  •  Identify the elements of a strong safety culture
  •  Describe the stages and steps to build and implement a safety culture
  •  Establish a high-level plan to promote wellbeing and lead safety practices within teams
  •  Demonstrate constructive behaviours to be an effective safety leader
  •  Promote the key metrics that measure shift in culture change
  •  Understanding and planning to leverage capability

LeadSafe Supervisors

The Leadsafe Supervisors programme has been developed specifically to lift the leadership and safety capability of all frontline leaders. It is endorsed by the Construction Health and Safety New Zealand (CHASNZ)

2 day classroom based programme

Who is it for:

Team Leaders/Supervisors and those directly managing work in the field or on site

 Learning Outcomes

The aim is to enable coalface leaders and supervisors to embrace a safety culture and what they do on site

everyday to get great work outcomes and take the lead to ensure everyone on site is safe.

 There are 6 module across the two days which will provide your frontline supervisors with the skills to set the tone as a safety leader and covers skill development in:

  1. Lead from the front – Walk the talk. Role model the desired skills, safety attitudes and behaviours required on site – including with sub-contractors
  2. Communicate – Develop good communication skills that will enable them to have effective safety conversations
  3. Influence – Positively influence and rectify inappropriate safety behaviour
  4. Use Safety Systems – Effectively use the safety tools and systems (hazard management, risk identification and assessment, incident investigation) to get better work outcomes
  5. Understand their responsibilities – Clearly understand their roles and responsibilities as a safety leaders and be proactively involved in the management of safety on-site, everyday
  6. Assess risk – Proactively assess safety risks and to drive safe attitudes and working methods

The classroom based learning programme is designed to be highly engaging and interactive to meet the needs of frontline supervisors and is built using the latest adult learning principles that lead to great application back on the job.

LeadSafe Essential Skills

Essential Skills is an entry-level programme which will help your crew better understand safety and how they can contribute to a safety culture in your business, leading to a safer and more productive worksite.

 This programme has developed specifically with embedded workplace literacy to meet the needs of the construction industry and those working on the tools. It is endorsed by Construction Health and Safety New Zealand (CHASNZ) and supported with funding from the Workplace literacy fund.

Duration:

4 x ½ day class room based

Who it is for:

Crews and frontline staff who need to lift their foundation and workplace literacy skills. 

Purpose :

To help crew and frontline staff better understand safety, and how they can contribute to a safety culture in your business for a safer, more productive worksite.The learning has been designed specifically for adult learners and uses an embedded workplace literacy techniques to build confidence and skills. 

 Learning Outcomes

The 4 x ½ days modules are designed to be highly interactive and provide practical tools to apply back on the tools and covers skill development in: 

  • Connecting with Health and Safety at a personal level
  • Having a good attitude towards Health and Safety
  • Speaking up in relation to Health and Safety improvement opportunities and challenges
  • Working with people from a range of backgrounds
  • Understanding important Health and Safety words and signage
  • Understanding Health and Safety responsibilities
  • Actively identify and report more hazards
  • Understanding and use Health and Safety controls
  • Speaking up more at tool-box meetings

Funding is valued at $2,275.00 per eligible* learner.

For a group of 8 eligible learners, this equates to a funding value of $22,000 +GST. (excl Travel and venue costs) 

It is expected that the organization accessing Workplace Literacy funding support make a fair and reasonable contribution to the costs of the development programme.

Learners who are not eligible for Workplace literacy funding can still be enrolled on the programme @ $2,275.00 + GST per learner.

*Eligibility – is defined by The Workplace Literacy Fund as (1) Being New Zealand resident (2) meet the pre assessment criteria of low literacy (3) not being enrolled in any other funding training including Industry training Organisations based qualification.

Who is it for?

Leaders and their teams who are wanting to increase their wellbeing and build personal resilience to perform better at work

Purpose

This module is designed to support you to increase your wellbeing across three main themes;

  • Body  – Physical wellbeing
  • Mind  – Change your brain change your life
  • Soul – Mental wellbeing
Learning Journey

It is an 8-week learning journey with 4 x 90min live facilitated sessions (MS Teams or Zoom) with self-paced learning to complete between sessions.

The journey builds skills and techniques to manage personal wellbeing and personal resilience, All the learning and material is hosted in a easy to use learning platform. Learners have access to this material for 12 months and can revisit the content and learning at any time.

Learning Outcomes

Learners will develop skills in:

  • Able to explain wellbeing, resilience, and emotional intelligence
  • Understands the importance of rest, nutrition and movement on wellbeing
  • Understands how thoughts affect mood and how thoughts can be modified
  • Has a foundational knowledge of stress, anxiety and depression
  • Able to notice own and others’ wellbeing
  • Understands how wellbeing strategies can be applied within different contexts
  • Know where and how to access further support and resources when needed
